Who will be the President of National eGovernance division?

BANGALORE, INDIA: To handle the growing number of eGovernance projects under the National eGovernance plan, the Government of India is inviting applications for the post of president and chief executive officer.

According to an Economic Times Report, the government has invited applications for the head of National e-Governance Division under the Media Labs Asia (MLA) in the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) website.

Media Labs Asia was created in 2001 when Pramod Mahajan was the IT Minister. It had tied up with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with intent of applying emerging technology to bring development. But in two years, MIT walked out of the partnership.

For this position, the government will consider candidates with a minimum of 20 years of experience in IT deployments, technology forecasting and innovation management. The basic pay scale is in the range of Rs 67,000-79,000 a month.

The government wants to revamp the department. "After years of corruption, allegations within e-governance programmes, the IT department wants an honest executive, who is also highly technical," an Economic Times report quoted a senior government executive, as saying.

For this position, the government will consider candidates with a minimum of 20 years of experience in IT deployments, technology forecasting and innovation management. The government has been rolling out a lot of eGovernance projects like Aadhaar and it is plans to spend about Rs 20,000 crore for increasing broadband internet penetration.

The Ministry is looking for a senior industry professional, who would have the ability of wading through the red tape and getting e-governance projects done.
