What TCS plans to do for Nokia

MUMBAI, INDIA: Tata Consultancy Services has entered into a long-term agreement with global mobile communications leader Nokia to help transform its IT landscape, the company announced here Thursday.

TCS will develop Nokia's core applications for enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, product lifecycle management, supply chain management, enterprise information management and corporate functions.

It will work with the Finland-based Nokia to help realize its future IT roadmap, driving consolidation, rationalization and simplification of applications and also enabling business transformation across the core portfolios.

The Mumbai-based TCS was selected after a rigorous selection process aimed at consolidating Nokia's global internal applications suite with a single provider.

"TCS has built up a strong reputation as a partner that drives simplification and business enablement using its transformational framework that allows companies to drive significant next generation benefits," TCS head, Nordic and Baltic Region, Amit Bajaj said on the occasion.

TCS's Nordic operations comprise 4,500 professionals working in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland, servicing top Nordic companies like Nokia, Ericsson, TDC, ABB, Telenor, NETS and SAS.

Last year, TCS generated consolidated revenues of $10.17 billion through its operations in 42 countries handled by 263,000 staff strength.
