BANGALORE, INDIA: Get to know about a school management platform that can save up to Rs 50 crore annually and can make gifted teachers a la Khan Academy and about a Windows-based online desktop service that enables customers to access personal desktop from any device connected to the internet.

Enabling teachers to be Khan Academy

Rupee symbol fame Foradian Technologies CEO and founder Unni Krishnan Koroth talked about the company's new software platform, which could enable teachers in our country to be a Khan Academy, at the EmTech India 2012 event.

The software, called Fedena, a school management platform, is an open source, Ruby on Rails platform.

About 40,000 schools in the country use this platform and it gets about 200 downloads in a day. It is being used by around 15,000 students in Kerala, reaching out to about 7 million students in the state and helps in saving Rs 50 crores annually.

According Unni Krishnan it is different from other school management systems and unlike them does not fall short when it comes to meet customization requirements. Any school, irrespective of which country it is located in, can use it as the software can be customized to specific requirements, he noted.

Foradian is planning to introduce a Marketplace for Fedena, soon.
