SAN FRANCISCO, USA: New York-based WeShop joined the social shopping fray last week when it raised $4.25 million in its first round of funding from several individual investors, including Jonathan Miller, chairman and CEO of News Corp.‘s Digital Media Group.

The one-year-old company is operating in beta testing mode right now, but hopes to open its social shopping network soon.

Antony Lee, founder and CEO of WeShop, described WeShop as a consumer network where consumers utilize their own anonymous shopping data to lead retailers and brands to make them great offers through the WeShop platform. "Our goal is to create a fundamental change in the manner in which consumers make purchases," he said.
