Websense launches V10000 to guard Web2.0

MUMBAI, INDIA: Websense Incorporation, the global player in integrated web, email and data security, has come out with the latest web gateway appliance platform named V10000. It offers extensive Web2.0 content control, filtering and threat protection.

Though Websense has specific solutions for securing web, email and data, it lacked a single appliance platform which allows comprehensive security against threats at the gateway level. The new appliance platform addresses that issue by offering a consolidated security solutions in real time content analysis for enterprises and organizations.

According to Websense's regional director for SAARC and India, Surendra Singh, today organizations are not blocking social networking sites such as Orkut, Facebook or LinkedIn because it will lead to unhappiness among its employees and affect their productivity.

“With change in working times, social networking sites remains an easy means for employees to keep themselves connected with their friends and family. As these sites are not blocked in organizations, it possesses threat of malicious content, spams or virus. Today, the hackers are becoming members of such social networking sites and then upload all kinds of malicious content,” Singh told CyberMedia News.

Further, he pointed such kind of threats emerging from Web2.0 content needs a real time content analysis or classification with Defensio technology. This technology protects users against risks of Web2.0 and inappropriate content, detects early threats and protects the system.

In terms of key features and benefits, Websense V10000 offers secure web gateway using over 1,800 analytics including legacy antivirus, web antivirus, reputation and more. It has an integrated control over both inbound content via Websense Web Security Gateway and outbound communication via data loss prevention (DLP) solution – Websense Data Security Suite.

With the application protocol control, it offers check box management for more than 125 application protocols to reduce security risks. It also features the integrated web proxy and cache to inspect, optimize and control web traffic. It helps to remove the blind sport of previously uncontrolled encrypted web traffic with an ability to inspect and manage SSL encrypted web communication.

According to Singh, the virtualization technology along with Websense V10000 lowers total cost of ownership as it reduces capital expenditure along with maintenance expense for space and power. Moreover, he pointed that now multiple application modules can be deployed on a single platform which increases flexibility and future proof security.

The Websense V10000 appliance is priced at $16,000, besides software subscriptions costs.
