WebEx India wins over 430 customers in 2005

NEW DELHI: WebEx Communications India today announced that it has registered a 33.3% growth in its customer base by adding 432 customers in 2005.

The company is also looking to add another 600 customers by the end of 2006. WebEx which provides audio, video and data conferencing services in India, said usage of online meeting applications has grown five times in the last six months and the total market is pegged at Rs. 120 crore.

Indian enterprises are increasingly recognizing the need for online meeting and collaboration and this trend is likely to continue with the market growing rapidly in 2006.

The industry potential and WebEx's growth is evident with a current base of over 1700 customers in India, after entering Indian market in 2003, through the acquisition of CyberBazaar. In 2005, WebEx roped in 297 customers in audio conferencing and 135 customers in web conferencing.

“With India Inc increasingly turning into a knowledge-based service provider, Indian enterprises today are looking at real time communication and collaboration more than ever before. Robust multimedia communication services, which include audio, video and data, are no longer “nice-to-haves” but “must haves” since such interactions are the very lifeblood of 21st century business”, said Kiran Datar, managing director, WebEx Communications India.

According to WebEx, applications like audio conferencing and web conferencing provide enterprises with secure, scalable and reliable environment to conduct meetings of any nature. On an average day, 5000 concurrent users use web conferencing services in India. Web conferencing usage was pegged at 5000 minutes in 2005.

Today, WebEx web meeting applications are used across many industries, including financial services, healthcare and pharmaceutical, manufacturing, government, and management consulting.
