The application lets consumer access web content such as news, blogs, photos, e-mails on their mobile phones.

Webaroo’s technology uses the local phone memory to store snippets of content downloaded from the web. Since the content is stored locally, it is available all the time, even when network connectivity is weak or unavailable, Webaroo said in a statement.

The application runs on most Java-enabled phones worldwide. The user should enable the data access on their phones to download the Webaroo application. The application is free to consumers, apart from the data access fees charged by their carriers, Webaroo added.

“Webaroo’s vision is to make web content available on all portable devices,” said Rakesh Mathur, co-founder and CEO, Webaroo. “We are excited to bring our vision to life now on most of the world’s mobile phones, in addition to laptops and portable drives.”

In addition to content sources such as news and blogs, Webaroo’s application contains “widgets” that can download specific content from web services such as email servers, social networking sites, search engines, photo sites, weather sites and more. It also contains pre-packaged content packs such as city guides, celebrity profiles, restaurant finders, and more.

Webaroo is in discussion with mobile carriers and content publishers to integrate the Webaroo application into their services.
