Wayin acquires Comenta TV

DENVER, USA: Wayin, the platform for leveraging social media across all consumer channels, today announced the acquisition of Comenta TV, the leading analytics and engagement platform for TV shows and live events in South America. Wayin, a software innovation company led by former SUN Microsystems executives, purchased the business and assets of Comenta TV to expand its global operations and acquire a set of technologies for measuring and acting upon Twitter activity. The acquisition brings together two companies that leverage the real-time nature of social networking to create new experiences across multiple consumer touch points.

In Comenta TV, Wayin picks up a company with an essential mix of broadcast and measurement technologies not found elsewhere in the market today. Comenta TV actively provides on-air Twitter integrations for some of the hottest TV shows in Latin America and Brazil and provides actionable insights to its biggest TV networks across 11 countries and 3 continents.

The deal was led by Wayin chief executive Elaine Wood, who views the transaction as an important piece in the company's global strategy. "We looked at a lot of options and found Comenta TV to be unique in providing television producers real time intelligence into how audiences are engaging with their shows. Wayin sees this as an indispensable value to producers and networks in their quest to further engage their audiences while maintaining creative freedom."

Founded in 2011 by Juan Melano, Comenta TV built a business across three continents, with high-profile TV activations including Viacom's Latin American properties and dozens of TV networks and events across Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Spain, the UK, France and North America. "We share a vision for the future, passion for technologies that enable change and now capabilities that make us stronger as one," said Melano, who prior to starting Comenta TV led a variety of media and technology companies.
