According to the press release, the GTSC Trainee Program serves as a pipeline for the global MACH (Microsoft Academy for College Hires) program. MACH has been created within the sales, marketing and services group at Microsoft to accelerate career development for talented college hires around the world.

"We are pleased to announce the roll out of our Trainee Program for 2005 in Bangalore," said MD of the Asia-Pacific customer service and support organization at Microsoft Manish Sinha. "India has always been an integral part of the global technical movement and this program gives students in the region the resources and tools they need to scale their skills and gain real-world experience," he added.

Candidates are selected for the trainee program after an extensive testing and technical evaluation phase. Once enrolled, students become a part of the Microsoft GTSC as a trainee engineer, interacting alongside the technical support engineers and gain deeper technical knowledge and broader understanding across multiple technical environments.

In order to make the program test accessible to a larger group, the program was rolled out nationwide, working with placement cells of colleges and allowing online registrations.
