BANGALORE, INDIA: After edging out Kazakhstan's Akzhurek Tanatarov 3-1 in a thrilling semifinal at the ExCel Arena, Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar is assured of a medal in the London Olympics 2012.

This is India's sixth medal, after another wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt made India proud by winning a Bronze medal in the 55 kg free-style wrestling category yesterday. 

Going by the tweets and messages, Indians seem to be extremely happy and have their hopes pinned on Sushil Kumar to win the first gold medal for India in wrestling. 

''Sushil Kumar all eyes on you! #GoForGoldIndia this is bout I'm not missing!!!6:30pm IST #India,'' tweeted Bollywood actress Dia Mirza.

He faces Japanese wrestler Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu in the gold medal play-off.

Result and reactions

Sushil Kumar, who was suffering with de-hydration and a stomach bug, put up a brave fight against Japan's Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu, to eventually come out the second best in the 66kg freestyle wrestling event.
