VSNL receives Rs 300 crore from WorldCom

(VSNL) has said that it has received a substantial sum of over Rs 300 crore from

WorldCom in the last few weeks as part of its due from WorldCom. VSNL earlier

had total dues of Rs 426 crore, of which WorldCom paid Rs 326 Crore.






According to a VSNL release, it was closely monitoring the situation and is in
touch with WorldCom. In this regard, VSNL is also planning to seek a place on

WorldCom’s creditors’ committee and press for its identification as a

critical vendor to ensure that it receives its outstanding claim of over Rs 100

crore from the company.






In the wake of the recent slashing down of its international long-distance
tariffs, the recovery of this amount is a significant step for VSNL.
