Users of Facebook and Twitter, two of the largest social media networking sites; that have also played a major role in influencing popular thoughts are facing a new viral. They are clicking nonstop on Facebook's I'm a voter button or using Twitter's special hashflag to show that they have cast their ballot. The features are initiatives by these two to encourage voter turnout.

Facebook has already reported more than 1 million clicks, whereas Twitter is gradually picking up.

Facebook said that by clicking on the I’m a voter button, a message is sent to all your friends. It has also shared a link for more information on how to vote and who has voted. While the button guarantees anonymity, and doesn’t require people to say who they voted for, it allows users to add extra information either to share who they chose or to urge their friends to vote too.
