Vodafone to open new call center in Gujarat

MUMBAI, INDIA: Vodafone Essar- the mobile operator and subsidiary of Vodafone Group, will start a large size call center in Gujarat. The telecom player is present in 21 circles in the country, with over 56.70 million customers across India.

According to highly reliable industry source from Gujarat, the cellular operator is likely to start a new contact center in Ahmedabad in the coming week.

“The contact center has the capacity of 5000 agents, which is mostly like to start functioning from Monday onwards. Top Vodafone officials will inaugurate the new center,” source said.

“This new operations will generate more job opportunities in the call center segment in the state. And also it will play major part in boosting the IT and ITeS business here,” source added. Further he said that GSM operator has already conducted trials or pilot runs from the new contact center.

However, when contacted by CyberMedia News, Vodafone authorities, declined to make any comment on it.

According to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)’s study, out of 12 telecom operators across India, Vodafone has 16.01 percent market share and hold fourth position, after Bharti, BSNL and Reliance. Gujarat falls under “A” Circles category that has 42.68 million GSM subscriber base.
