VMware names new MD for India, SAARC

BANGALORE, INDIA: VMware, Inc., a provider in virtualization solutions from the desktop to the datacenter, announced today the appointment of T. Srinivasan as managing director (MD) of VMware India.

Srinivasan would spearhead VMware’s business operations – including sales, marketing, services and channels – in India and the SAARC economies, said a press release.

He would report directly to Andrew Dutton, head of VMware’s Asia Pacific and Japan organization and would be based in Bangalore.

Srinivasan joins VMware from Oracle India, where he was vice president of Technology Sales. In this role, he was responsible for managing the company’s technology sales business and leading a large team of sales, pre-sales and alliance professionals.

He has previously held senior management positions with Informatica, HP Software India, Mercury, EMC, Wipro and HCL in India.

"VMware continues to grow as the leader in virtualization, which is considered by industry watchers to be the most important trend in 2009 and beyond,” said Dutton.

“We are therefore delighted to have Srinivasan join VMware to head our business in India, one of the fastest growing regions in the world for VMware.”

He expressed confidence that Srinivasan leadership will accelerate VMware’s ability to realize its full potential in the Indian marketplace.
