Virgin goes online, now purchase mobile from home

NEW DELHI, INDIA – Virgin Mobile, the youth-focussed mobile services brand, today announced the online availability of Virgin’s products and services.

The customers can now purchase Virgin Mobile branded products and services by visiting its website www.virginmobile.in. They will be provided with additional talk time, extra messages as well as other freebies.

The ‘Bak Bak’ offer will provide online customers Rs 100 of free talk time, Rs 500 free SMS, lifetime validity and a free prepaid connection on purchase of every handset, said a press release.

M A Madhusudan, chief executive officer, Virgin Mobile India said, “With 44 per cent of the total internet population in India within the age group of 19-24 years, this medium has become an integral part of youth’s lifestyle. It is therefore logical for us to extend our presence to the online space and offer our customers the convenience and comfort of buying Virgin Mobile connection.”

“We are confident that we will receive a positive response on this initiative and are hopeful of acquiring a significant portion of our customer base through our online channel over the next two years,” he added.

The company has tied up with Blue Dart for delivery of handsets and with Billdesk for payment authorisation.

In the near future, the company also plans to support its online portfolio by making available exciting product bundled offers, facility of gifting a phone to friend or family and an option of recharging or topping-up the Virgin Mobile phone online.

One can visit the Virgin Mobile website to select the handset, plan, number etc, fill an online application and facilitate the payment by a debit card or credit card.

Virgin mobile said that the handsets will be delivered to the customer within 24 to 48 hours of making the payment and the necessary documents for proof of identity will be collected in person.
