Videocon to launch 15 handset models

MUMBAI, INDIA: Electronics and consumer durable player Videocon unveiled a wide range of mobile handsets in Maharashtra.

The company, which recently forayed into the mobile handset market, had announced its plans to launch 15 new models across India over the next two months.

The newly launched mobiles include latest touch phones, touch windows phones and basic color models that feature FM radio, single/dual SIM, MP3 music, camera and multimedia.

With this launch, Videocon intends to be amongst top three in this space in 2010. On this occasion, V.N Dhoot, chairman and managing director, Videocon Group said, "Videocon is excited to launch its mobile phones and intends to be amongst the top three in this space in a year's time. Mobile phones are today an integral part of more than five hundred million people and growing."

Anil Khera, CEO, Videocon Mobile Phones Division, said: “We shall leverage the strengths of the Videocon brand in delivering products and services to customers and partners by adding value to the products through the creative design that gives an attractive look and feel on the handset along with total quality management.”

India is one of the fastest growing cellular mobile phone markets in the world, with an existing user base of over 400 million subscribers across the country, and 10 million new users being added every month.
