Video conferencing systems: LG eyes govt sector

NEW DELHI, INDIA: With its new integrated video conferencing portfolio, LG Electronics is eying key projects in government sector.

LG new video conferencing portfolio is capable of operating in low bandwidth conditions and the company sees new opportunities with the capability.

The new videoconferencing solution, Sinha said is revolutionary and leverages half the bandwidth than that of competitors' products. "The new solution can be extended to external memory. We follow standard protocols and are open to collaboration with apps," he said.

The centre and state governments, Sinha said, are deploying videoconferencing solution aggressively. "We see opportunity in rural healthcare such as the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM)," he informed. Videoconferencing solution, Sinha said, is also being deployed in prisons and courts.

"The business opportunity is immense. All the state governments are implementing such solutions at district levels for real-time monitoring," he said. The company is also eyeing education vertical for virtual classrooms.

LG India B2B head Hemendu Sinha feels that by videoconferencing endpoint market in India would reach to $110 million by the end of 2013. Analysis firm Wainhouse Research feels that endpoint market worldwide would grow to $4.9 billion in 2013.

LG's videoconferencing system (VCS) solutions come in with price range of Rs 190,000 to Rs 699,000. The solution can help organizations to cut internal travel costs up to significant levels and its adoption has become imperative for enterprise sector.
