Viber crosses 40 million users in India

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Viber,the app offering free messaging and HD-quality calls, has announced that it has crossed more than 40 million registered users in India.

Viber commenced its operations in India in December 2013 at a time when there were 13 million users of the application in India and now has over 516 million unique users in 193 countries.

“This is a significant achievement for Viber and its users in India. Within a very short time span we have trebled our reach in India. Today, we are a strong community of 40 million users, our growth bears testimony to the fact that we are committed to our users in India and are consistently innovating to offer a variety of messaging and entertainment features. ” said, Anubhav Nayyar, country head, Viber India.

Viber has added multiple features taking into account the unique requirements of the Indian consumer. One of the key releases last year was Viber Public Chats. There are more than 50 Public Chats in India across various genres like fashion, beauty, travel, sports, entertainment etc.
