Verizon adds new features to cloud-based mobile workforce manager solution

BANGALORE, INDIA: To help organizations better manage and secure an expanding universe of corporate-issued and employee-owned devices, Verizon Enterprise Solutions has added new features to its cloud-based Mobile Workforce Manager solution and signed a resale agreement with MobileIron, a global leader in enterprise mobility management.

Cloud-based enterprise mobility

Verizon's Mobile Workforce Manager, previously known as Enterprise-Mobility-as-a-Service, has been enhanced with new features that securely separate users' business and personal lives across devices and improve functionality for managing mobile applications, offering an overall simplified user experience. Now available to medium and large organizations in 30 countries and territories in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas, Mobile Workforce Manager also offers local billing, currency and support options. The new features include:

Secure Workspace for supporting 'Bring Your Own Laptop.' Creates separate corporate and personal personas for data and applications that reside on a device. The secure workspace can be easily managed by an organization's IT department which can lock, wipe and locate a user's corporate persona to protect company property, while maintaining user privacy. End users can also store and access corporate documents from a secure cloud. The secure workspace feature was previously only available on smartphones and tablets.

Expanded Control for Managing Mobile Applications. Generates greater flexibility for the IT administrator when deploying business applications by offering the ability to wrap security policies around a given application. This then creates convenience for the end user who can access all applications with a single sign-on and a preserved native experience that is reflective of their preferred device.

Simplified User Portal. Offers a single portal for an end user or administrator to make any changes to the service or to add devices. The newly designed portal allows the ability to create customized dashboards and can be accessed on any device with a consistent look and feel.

"Unlike competitive offerings which require organizations to pay for services on a per-device basis, Mobile Workforce Manager offers a powerful package of capabilities priced on a per user basis and not by the number of devices that a person carries," added Harrobin.

In addition to supporting Android and iOS devices, Mobile Workforce Manager can also now support devices that run on Mac and Windows Phone 8 operating systems.

Premise-Based Enterprise Mobility Solutions

 

For enterprises and organizations seeking a premise-based platform for managing mobile devices and applications, MobileIron's portfolio can now be sold to organizations by Verizon Enterprise Solutions account representatives that are based in the United States. Later this year, the resale agreement will be extended to Verizon clients in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Recognized as a leader last year by Gartner, Inc. in its, "Magic Quadrant for Mobile Device Management Software," report 1, MobileIron enables global companies to give their employees access to every business process they need, on any device they choose and all with a secure experience.

In 2012, Gartner saw license revenue run to $784 million worldwide, and it is expected to rise to over $1.6 billion in 2014."
