Together, Veraz and Aperto have built a joint demonstration lab, and are now demonstrating advanced IMS over WiMAX network solutions.

The joint IMS over WiMAX demonstration lab includes a live link between Aperto's Milpitas headquarters and Veraz's San Jose headquarters. The lab showcases how the two platforms interoperate under a variety of service scenarios to demonstrate a reliable, high capacity, high quality WiMAX network for the delivery of advanced multimedia services.

Aperto's PacketMAX platform enables service providers to easily deploy, scale and offer broadband wireless services via point-to-point and point-to-multipoint networks.

Veraz's ControlSwitch allows service providers to deploy an advanced IMS network capable of delivering rich, IP-based multimedia services to both fixed and mobile subscribers. Service providers can also use the combined Aperto-Veraz solution for additional applications such as mobile operator backhaul and enterprise access. In these applications, Veraz media gateways compress voice traffic and increase the available voice capacity of WiMAX network links by up to 10 times while maintaining high voice quality. The additional applications and the voice compression allow service providers to improve the economics of IMS over WiMAX.

"Delivery of premium VoIP and advanced multimedia services is becoming a critical success factor for many of our customers," said Manish Gupta, vice president (Marketing & Alliances) of Aperto Networks. "Veraz's commitment to excellence makes them a perfect voice partner for Aperto's WiMAX Solution Ecosystem (WiSEÔ) Program."

"We see definite synergies between Aperto and Veraz and are enthusiastic about working with a pioneer in the WiMAX market," said R. Paul Singh, vice president of Business Development, at Veraz Networks. "To truly offer flexible, rich multimedia services and fulfill promises of an IMS network, broadband is an absolute necessity. WiMAX is an incredibly powerful and exciting technology in its ability to provide cost effective, high speed, reliable broadband to both the fixed and mobile domains. In welcoming Aperto into our VOSA partnership program, we expand both the breadth and reach of our solutions, and leverage some of the most advanced networking technology available today."
