Nowadays, there is a mobile app for every damn thing. Then why should Uttar Pradesh (UP) police be left behind! In order to facilitate a synchronized traffic management system in the state, the traffic police department is set to launch a mobile application, which would enable commuters to get regular updates on traffic restrictions, diversions, and alerts, as they travel from one location to another within the state.

If you are traveling between Noida and Ghaziabad, or further, you can get instant updates on changes in the traffic system in the said route. The app will take into consideration not only traffic police restrictions, but also ground-level circumstances like construction or a concert, or even an accident.

"We have conducted trials internally and the results have been encouraging. However, there is a need to teach the traffic police also. We have decided to start the app in Noida first and the same will be handed over to Noida traffic police for their own trials within a fortnight," ADG (traffic) Anil Agarwal, who was on a visit to Noida said.

Users will also be able to lodge complaints about traffic system via mobile to traffic police and the same would be taken care in real time. It will also be interactive to help traffic police and the commuters connect with each other on traffic-related problems, suggestions or solutions and complaints. The app will be available only to Android users initially.

However, the traffic police will not be able to issue challans through the app, as National Informatics Centre (NIC) is already developing a national-level application for the same for the transport department. The app has been developed by a private company, PC Solutions.
