NEW DELHI: The members of Bluetooth Special Interest Group and UWB developers have decided to join hands with each other to provide best of both the technologies as a single standard.

According to the Bluetooth Special Interest Group both the groups are aiming to provide an architecture that will allow devices to take the advantage of fast UWB data rates as well utilize Bluetooth's support for backward compatibility.

In a statement, Michael Foley, executive director of the Bluetooth SIG said, "I feel that it is the responsibility of the industry to recognize synergies and limit fragmentation as much as possible."

Vendors like Intel, Motorola have welcomed this move and feel that both the technologies complement each other and if they can be brought together the consumer is sure to benefit.
