UMAX launches Astra scanner

NEW DELHI: UMAX Data Systems, Inc. has launched its new Astra 5400 scanner in

the Indian market. The 1200x2400 dpi high resolution, 42-bit color scanner with

touch-button operation simplifies tasks such as scan, copy, email and text

conversion (OCR) for SOHO and business users.

The Astra 5400 is compatible with both Macintosh and PC platforms, devices

running on Mac OS 9.0, Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows ME. Moreover, the

Astra 5400 offers optional transparency cover for scanning slides, positives and

negatives.

Astra 5400 comes with easy-to-use software that enables you to organize

images and documents. The software includes Adobe PhotoShop LE, an image editing

solution, which allows you to create sophisticated and compelling visuals by

editing and enhancing the images. Also, a well-functioned and centralized asset

management application, Presto! PageManager is included in the Astra 5400. It

offers OCR capability and organizes image files; accesses fax, email, printer,

word processors and other software through a simple drag and drop mechanism.

Moreover, with NewSoft Page Type, which is ideal for filling out forms, you will

be able to scan in and fill out pre-printed forms quickly and easily.
