Ukraine cyber security firm ISSP is warning of possible cyber-attacks after detecting a new computer virus distribution like the one witnessed during WannaCry ransomware that knocked out global systems in June, reports Reuters.

ISSP said that the new malware originated from the accounting systems and could be intended to take down Ukraine's networks. "This could be an indicator of a massive cyber attack preparation before the National Holidays in Ukraine," the company said. The incident is "in no way connected with global cyber attacks like those that took place on June 27 of this year and is now fully under control,"  the company said.

Last Friday, the central bank of Ukraine said that it had warned state-owned and private lenders of the appearance of new malware, and its spread by opening email attachments of word documents. In a statement, the state cyber police said they also had detected new malicious software.

Ukraine usually regarded as a soft target for Russian state-sponsored hacks is having an uphill task of fighting against the hacking organizations and keeping the state institutions and computer systems safe.
