VILNIUS, LITHUANIA: The office of Lithuania's newly elected President Dalia Grybauskaite has a problem with someone else's virtual reality.

A user has signed on to the microblogging site Twitter as DGrybauskaite (twitter.com/dGrybauskaite) using the same name as the president, her picture and a link to Grybauskaite's election campaign website.

"Last week we asked the police to investigate who is this user posing as the president on Twitter," presidential spokesman Linas Balsys told Reuters. "President Grybauskaite has no accounts on any social networks."

The Twitter user posing as Grybauskaite has promised to revive mandatory military service, change the rules on dual citizenship and attracted almost 700 followers.

Balsys said he has sent several emails asking Twitter to remove the profile, but has received only an automated response so far.

Grybauskaite, 53 and a former European budget commissioner, took the president's office on July 12 after winning a landslide victory in May elections.
