Tuxera updates NTFS open source projects

HELSINKI, FINLAND: Tuxera Inc., provider of Windows and Mac compatible file systems for Android, Linux, OS X and other platforms has announced the release of cross-platform NTFS package under GNU GPL open source license.

According to company release, Tuxera NTFS Community Edition includes NTFS driver, library and over ten popular tools including backup, resizer, recovery, wiping and defragmenter.

"I am happy to announce a major update release of Tuxera NTFS Community Edition building on both NTFS-3G and ntfsprogs," said Szabolcs Szakacsits, Tuxera CTO.

He added that, the new open source package is released under GPL to ensure that every developer has an access to NTFS tools to power their applications.

The release further added that, the developers have open access to updated toolset that has been integrated into numerous file system and storage management applications. Anyone can download the driver, library and tools and include them in other GPL-compatible open source projects.

In addition, Tuxera sells commercial licenses to companies who wish to integrate any part of the NTFS package into proprietary applications and who do not want to be bound by the GPL.
