Tulip to manage Assam SWAN project

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Data telecom services provider Tulip IT Services Ltd. today announced that it has bagged the Assam State Wide Area Network (SWAN) project worth Rs. 57.72 crore.

Tulip would deploy, manage and operate the entire network for five years. The network come up would be on a Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model.

The network would support data, voice and video and will enable the state to implement various e-Governance initiatives. The wide spread connectivity will benefit 26 districts in Assam.

On completion of the project, the government of Assam will have an integrated backbone for common citizen services, online monitoring of performance of various promotional schemes, integration of databases of various government departments and unified communication.

"The Assam Government has taken a very progressive step by deciding to enhance the existing ICT infrastructure in the state. Setting up of the SWAN will allow the citizens access to information in real time and will bring about greater transparency and efficiency in delivering government services in the state," said HS Bedi, chairman and managing director, Tulip IT Services.
