NEW DELHI: Trend Micro Inc, a company dealing in network antivirus and
Internet content security solutions, has reinforced its commitment to the Indian
market. Trend recently set up a liaison office in Mumbai. The company has plans
to expand to other metro by May 2001. Other plans include the undertaking of an
aggressive brand building exercise, organizing road shows and end user seminar's
to educate corporates and end users on the criticality of security. In addition,
Trend Micro plans to increase its channel strength by providing training and
incentive programs for channel partners.
IDC estimates that the Asia/Pacific market for packaged security software
will grow at a compound annual growth (CAGR) of 63 per cent to reach $ 3,323
million in 2004. AV software market in parallel is increasing at a 17 per cent
CAGR from 1999 to 2004, reaching 42.7 billion.
"Direct entry into a new market is a well thought out decision and we
believe that the time is right to enter the Indian market now. We are very
positive about the market here and plan to capture 75 percent of the Internet
gateway antivirus market ", said, South East Asia and South Asia managing
director, Frank Leu.
Trend Micro provides technical and product support to India and the rest of
Asia 'round the clock' from a dedicated regional service center called TrendLab
in Metro Manila, Philippines.
