The Transtel range of Digital ISDN Telecom systems will be available in the

Indian market with the launch of the TD1648 EPABX/Key Telephone System. Transtel

regional manager South Asia Chaucer Hsieh told CNS that the product is

simultaneously being launched worldwide and in India.

Hsieh said that he expects the product to cover a very wide market

internationally because of the unique features in the product. The unique

features of the product include Computer Telephony Integration (CTI), Voice Over

Internet Protocol, Access Control Phone and E1 connectivity.

As far as the target customers are concerned Hsieh revealed that the product

targets the small and midsize companies to a larger extent and also looks at the

larger companies. The product would find its way in India through Intellicon,

their distributor partners. Intellicon has been a big player in the Indian

Telecom Industry as the manufacturers of the EPABX systems, Optima.

Intellicon managing director Sameer Parekh, believed that with the speed with

which BSNL/MTNL were increasing their capacity and with private operators coming

in, they also expected to lay around 85000 lines by March 2002.

Intellicon is targeting around Rs 25 crore in the current financial year

2001-02. Intellicon has formed an alliance with Trans Tel. Under the terms

Intellicon will provide Trans Tel software solutions in call center, security

and CTI. With this Trans Tel has become Intellicon's first overseas client. As

Parekh put it, "We have been developing solutions since 1991 but it was

only last year that we started providing software solutions to outside customers

like Maruti, Telco, EMA amongst few others. With this alliance Trans Tel will be

the first overseas client to get software solutions from us.''
