He said this while interacting with the media at the India Telecom 2010 here.

Earlier, TRAI had come up with recommendation on spectrum management and license fee in the second week of last May. These recommendations included pricing for 2G spectrum given in excess to base spectrum. However, telecom operators are against this proposal.

It was based on the 3G spectrum price that the CAG, in its report, had said that the 2G spectrum allotment caused a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer.

It had also said 85 ineligible applicants were given UAS licence and the process followed by the DoT for verification of applications for UAS licences for confirming their eligibility lacked due diligence, fairness and transparency.
