This Semi Tough book from Dell is not only tough but also a consistent performer. It is specifically meant for people working under testing environmental condition like you encounter in military camps in remote areas or in coal mines. It designed to protect itself against accidental bumps, moisture and other such extreme conditions. It is built on a Core 2 Duo T7200 Processor and has 2 GB of RAM. Since it's meant to be tough hence it is a little bulky but the security feature is worth a mention. It not only has support for TPM chip but also has introduced a security feature called Computrace using which you can locate your notebook via internet in case of theft. Being a tough book it has protection for HDD as well and also has finger print reader. Dell has introduced a new concept of “Complete cover” under which they propose to replace or repair any unintentional accidental damage and spill on the notebook.

It performed very well in PC Mark05 though could not beat the score of Asus Lamborghini mainly due to the absence of an in-built graphics card. But when it came to our productivity test which includes both MCCW and BW, it won the battle against Lamborghini. It gave a score of 3 in our Vista compatibility test and is fully Vista ready. The only area of concern was the low battery back of just about 2 hour and 50 min.

It might be a little heavy to carry with but when it comes to the look it is not a step behind any life style product. Since it is meant for a specific genre of people hence the pricing is also of that range. Few additional features like Webcam would have added on to its kitty and would have made it a potential force to recon with.
