They are honored for security implementation

BANGALORE, INDIA: The countdown has began for the much awaited C-Change Enterprise Awards 2011, brought to you by CIOL and Data Quest. The annual awards will be presented to some of India's most talented and innovative CIOs at a glittering function at The Leela, Mumbai, on Friday, August 19.

Though we have to wait for one more day to know who the winners are, we would like to share with our readers a preview of the shortlisted entries for Best Security Implementation awards.

Among the new categories introduced for this year's award, the 'Best Security Implementation Award' intends to recognize a CIO who has made a successful effort to take care of the enterprise security to ensure security and compliance safeguards for the company.

Those contending for the 'Best Security Implementation Award' in this category include enterprises from across verticals like banking, non-banking finance, health care, manufacturing, advertising among others.

The organizers have received nominations from enterprises like Bank of India, Marvel, Reliance Commercial Finance, Reliance Life Insurance, Mudra Communications, IDFC, Hero Honda, IOCL, Panasonic AVC Networks India Co. Ltd, Wockhardt Ltd, etc.

The nominees are contending for the award for various security implementation within their enterprises environments for projects ranging from firewall implementations, acquiring various security certifications, implementing new architecture (security), new authentication system and a host of other implementations.

Among the implementation nominated for this year's award in this category comprise projects undertaken by various institutions which include 2-factor authentication, strengthening of end-point security and mutual-authentication (Client-Server) and implementation of end-to-end encryption solutions.

In view of the increased threat of cyber attacks many enterprise have implemented new projects which have also been nominated for the award. These projects includes central authentication for accessing all applications, new DRM, DLP projects, mobile device management, Domino Controller Security Policies, and email security, to mention a few.

The jury for the awards, headed by Ashok Soota, chairman and managing director of Happiest Minds Technologies Pvt Limited, also included Sunny Banerjea, executive director, head — performance and technology, KPMG; Shobhana Ravi, chief information and learning officer of Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited; Pradeep Gupta, chairman and managing director, CyberMedia India Limited; Nilesh Sangoi, chief technological officer, Meru Cabs; Anil Kumar R, senior vice-president, CyberMedia India Limited; R Srinivasan, associate professor, Corporate Strategy and Policy, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and Anirban Banerjee, associate vice-president, CyberMedia Research.
