BANGALORE, INDIA: Continuing with our short and brisk journey to the world of entrepreneurship, we now come to some of the basic elements that define entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship. It is common knowledge that the most important engine that drives a true blooded entrepreneur is his need to create wealth. Passion for wealth creation both defines and describes an entrepreneur. Everything that happens because of entrepreneurship, results from this one, most important element.

For example, we know entrepreneurs are great job creators. We also know that wherever entrepreneurship succeeds, economic prosperity results almost as a definite consequence. However, if jobs are created, and if resultant economic growth takes place, it is only because of wealth that the entrepreneur creates. Thus, the real driving force for the entrepreneur is that amazing thing called creation of wealth through his/her efforts, which in turn is defined by passion uniquely exclusive to the entrepreneur.

Once we understand this truism, it becomes very easy for us to understand what entrepreneurs are and what do they seek. We then know better why entrepreneurship, true to form, follows no established rules. And why, in almost all cases, entrepreneurs create their own rules, making it the game only for the tough hearted. This is so not because of any alleged glamour to the task of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is a very responsible call, and needs all the ingredients that a tough task needs.

To bring in greater clarity, there are other very important, related issues that not only describe an entrepreneur, they also define him/her:  the enigma of success and failure - the ultimate test,  risk taking- the engine that drives — and is driven, and quality- the personal signature, and the basic rules of success.
