"It's painful when customers want services that the network isn't ready to deliver," said Dan Kelly, executive vice president of global products for Tellabs. "We're enabling providers to offer new Ethernet services over non-fiber networks or deliver traditional services over new IP networks, so everybody wins."

It enables providers to put traditional services, such as TDM, frame relay and ATM, over Ethernet.

The Tellabs 8800 MSR, with new Feature Package 7.1, delivers Multilink PPP (ML-PPP) and Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) to enable transport of Ethernet traffic over traditional copper and SONET networks.

It enables providers to deliver traditional and new Ethernet services to anyone.
