Tektronix to expand Indian software unit

BANGALORE: Tektronix Inc, the world's No. 2 maker of electronic testing and

measurement equipment said on Thursday it plans to expand its Indian software

development center, taking advantage of the country's growing pool of software

developers.

The company in a statement said it would increase staff in its subsidiary

Tektronix Engineering Development India Ltd. by 30 per cent annually over the

next three years.

Tektronix's Indian unit currently has more than 100 staff.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to grow our presence in this

critical market both as an employer and as a supplier to key customers in

India," said Tektronix Inc.'s president and chief executive officer.

"The expansion of this resource will enable Tektronix to align software

development with the company's overall strategy and operations," the firm

said.

Tektronix Engineering Development India began operations in 1997 with an

initial investment of more than $10 million.
