The global revenue for Cognizant technology solutions and Syntel for the year 2002-03, registered with NASSCOM are Rs 1236.53 crore and Rs 799.10 crore respectively.

Despite challenges such as the continued technology slowdown in the global market and appreciation of the rupee, Indian IT companies have witnessed growth in their revenues. This has been possible due to the Indian companies being able to draw more strategic business as well as bag larger contracts from their customers.

Indian IT companies, apart from consolidating their presence in traditional verticals such as BFSI, also diversified into new verticals such as Retail, Utilities and Healthcare. Some leading players also moved into new services lines in the IT services arena such as Packaged Software implementation and Systems Integration. Most leading Indian IT companies also ventured actively into the ITES-BPO segment in order to add and stabilize their revenue stream.
