MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services Ltd plans to add 100 more associates to its Hang Zhou Global Development Centre in China.

China will be the key overseas market for TCS in the coming days with the addition of new associates. TCS already has around 250 associates working in its facility. Around 90 per cent of them are Chinese.

TCS had on June 30 informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that it would set up a joint venture with Microsoft and three other organisations in China for IT outsourcing services for both domestic and overseas markets.

The Beijing-based joint venture is expected to start operation during the first quarter of 2006 and associates for the joint venture would be separately recruited.

TCS and Microsoft were selected as strategic partners for the joint venture by Sino-India Cooperative office of China. “The partnership between TCS and the Chinese government is an exclusive agreement. We are currently working on the number of people to be put up for this JV and on the business model, which is currently in its initial stage,” TCS Asia-Pacific head Girija Pandey said.
