TCS Q2 net up 81 percent

MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services, has posted 81% growth in its net profit for the second quarter ended September 30, 2005 compared with the corresponding period last year.

TCS has recorded a net profit of Rs 620.32 crore in Q2 compared to Rs 342.19 crore recorded during the second quarter of 2004-05. At the same time, the company's revenues has touched Rs 2515.73 crore, up 22.3% from Rs 2056.90 crore posted during the quarter ended September 30, 2004.

For the half year, TCS net profits have grown to Rs 1199.18 crore - a growth of 25 percent -compared to Rs 760.91 crore posted during the year-ago period.

In the second quarter, basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) increased to Rs14.45 from Rs13.13 in the previous quarter. During the last fiscal corresponding period, basic and diluted EPS (including exceptional items) was at Rs 7.34.

During the quarter, US geography has contributed over Rs 1544 crore to the company's revenues.

The board of directors of the company has declared an interim dividend of Rs 3 per equity share of Re 1.
