Tata Telecom Q3 profit hikes 70%

BANGALORE: Tata Telecom Ltd, the telecommunication arm of Tata Group, has recorded a turnover of Rs100 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2003. This represents a jump of 16 per cent when the company registered revenue of Rs86 crore a year ago. The company posted a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs9 crore as compared to Rs5.3 crore in the corresponding previous period, an increase of 70 per cent.



Niru Mehta, Vice Chairman, Tata Telecom and Managing Director and Vice President, Avaya India, said, "We believe the future of all enterprise communications infrastructure lies in converged networks. And, our end-to-end converged communications solutions are emerging to be a key differentiator for Tata Telecom's consistent growth. This is providing a tremendous impetus in inspiring customer confidence and I am delighted to see that our customers are embracing our single window solutions strategy. Our 19th consecutive quarter of growth is a clear testimony of this."



The third quarter at Tata Telecom saw focus on enhancing value proposition and, therefore, making its customers more competitive in the global market. Towards this, the company entered into a strategic marketing alliance with Symon Communications Ltd., a leading global provider of contact center and enterprise performance and productivity tools, to provide performance management solutions to its contact center clients.



To further enhance its end-to-end converged communications solutions offerings, Tata Telecom - Avaya introduced the latest IP solutions portfolio. These include the Avaya Communication Manager, the Avaya C460 Converged Multilayer Switch and the Avaya Security Gateways.



For the nine-month period ended December 31, 2003, the company reported a turnover of Rs269 crore as compared to Rs216 crore in the corresponding previous period, a growth of 25 per cent. The profit after tax (PAT) stands at Rs22 crore as compared to Rs10 crore in the corresponding previous period, an increase of 116 per cent.
