Tata Sky launches satellite television service

NEW INDIA: Tata Sky Ltd, an 80:20 JV between TATA and STAR, today announced the
launch of Tata Sky satellite television service across 300 cities in India.






The hardware priced at Rs 2,999 and a special introductory offer of only Rs 200
per month, Tata Sky will offer subscribers, channels from STAR, Sony, Discovery,

Disney, MTV, NDTV, ESPN STAR Sports, National Geographic, Eenadu, TV Today,

Asianet and many more.






The service gives subscribers a choice of all their favorite television channels
in DVD quality picture and CD quality sound. In addition, subscribers can now

control the way they watch television through a host of interactive services

such as an on-screen program guide, Actve Sports, Actve STAR News, Actve

Newsroom and Actve Khabar.






Vikram Kaushik, managing director and CEO, Tata Sky, said, “We are confident

throughout every contact point including sales, service and billing, will set us

Tata Sky has also set up a pan-India distribution network of popular consumer
electronic stores and mobile phone outlets for retailing its hardware and

prepaid recharge vouchers. The company has also tied up with LG, ITC

International Business Division and Indian Oil Corporation as part of its

distribution drive.






Tata Sky will be responsible for installing and servicing the hardware at every
subscriber's home, thereby ensuring the highest levels of customer service.
