Tata Elxsi forays into media software

BANGALORE: The product design arm of the $ 10 billion Tata Group, Tata Elxsi, has forayed into entertainment and media industry providing complete post production solutions, including developing 2D/3D animation works and digital content creation.



On a reduced total income of Rs 131.96 crore for the fiscal year 2001-02, the company made a net profit of Rs 16.75 crore. It expects to register revenue of Rs 450 crore in the year 2004-05, registering a CAGR of 40 percent growth.



In an effort to reach its target revenue, the company has identified the entertainment and media industry as a potential business opportunity. The Media Solutions Group, as the division is called, offers a range of products covering the 2D/3D animation, compositing and special effects, nonlinear editing, sports enhancement graphics and digital projection system.



Along with this, the company’s three other divisions include, product design service, design engineering services and integration services. The four divisions are engaged in offering services such as silicon embedded systems and software, animation/digital content creation, design tools and integration and industrial design and engineering.



To communicate to its customers that it is involved in a lot of design works, the company, launched a new corporate positioning based on design, the versatile and dynamic identity that cuts across the organization’s core practices, as the company put it.
