Tata to commission 3 MW solar plant by 2010 end

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Tata Power will commission a 3 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Mahrashtra by end of this year that will become the largest grid connected solar plant in the state.

"Tata Power aims to commission this first and largest solar photovoltaic power plant in Maharashtra located at Mulshi," said a company press release on Wednesday.

The company's executive director Banmali Agrawala said that the "solar power is progressing well and will be commissioned later this year".

The Tata Group has also proposed to set up the country's largest single solar photovoltaic plant, with a capacity of 50 MW, at Mithapur in Gujarat.

"Tata power will be implementing a 50 MW plant at Mithapur in Gujarat, which shall be the largest single solar photovoltaic installation in the country," a PTI report quoted a company official as saying.
