Take aways from Mark Templeton's press meet

BANGALORE, INDIA: Though one-on-ones were specially slotted for mainstream media, Mark Templeton, president and chief executive officer for Citrix, who was in the city on Thursday, did share his company's journey in 2011 and what could be expected of it in 2012, in a press conference.

Here are a few take aways from the meet.

The virtualization and cloud software maker reported earnings of $356 million, on revenue of $2.21 billion, up 18 per cent in 2011. The company is aiming at 100 per cent growth this year.

The rate of massive build outs at the cloud is tremendous, and has been the reason behind the company's increased growth.

Citrix will build cloud platform that are Amazon styled.

The company is aiming at 100 per cent growth this year. While, the company's virtualized desktops business was the major contributor, with 58 per cent, to its growth, data sharing (ShareFile), contributed the least with less than one per cent.

Its cloud network business, comprising of the assets acquired from Cloud.com last year, contributed 18 per cent.

In terms of workforce, globally, 'we multiplied like rabbits' and added more than 1,300 people. About 33 per cent of its workforce is new. It has about 7,000 people globally with over 1,000 in India.

The company which also went in for a couple of acquisition in 2011 and spent 500-600 million dollars for it, however says that revenues from acquisitions have not been very high and stands at around $5 million

In terms of geographies that grew the most, Asia Pacific is on the top with 33 per cent growth, where India grew at 42 per cent.

'Citrix today builds either all or part of every product in Bangalore R&D'.

'Our objective is to help companies to move from PC era to Cloud era'. In other terms from cost centric TCO era to agility, capacity driven TVO era.

'The exceptions of PC era, such as mobile etc, are the new assumptions of cloud era'.

Going forward there will be only two kinds of business styles:

Mobile workstyles: That is to access information from any device to any device , from anywhere and

Cloud services - That is to access and deliver cloud services from any cloud.

Cloud will bring in network transformation, i.e. from hierarchical networks to high speed and flat network.
