Synopsys kick starts SNUG India 2011

BANGALORE, INDIA: Synopsys, Inc., a semiconductor design software provider, today announced that the annual Synopsys Users' Group (SNUG) India in Bangalore.

SNUG, a two-day conference that feature more than 50 technical sessions and focuses on the theme Learn, Interact and Participate.

SNUG India is part of a global technical program. Synopsys that is headquartered in Mountain View, California, last year drew almost 7000 participants from globally chip and system design engineers.

"SNUG attendance continues to grow each year to record numbers. Last year, we had nearly 2300 attendees. India is experiencing a widening customer base with multinational semiconductor companies, startups, government projects, design service houses, IP developers and expanding university programs. These cover a wide variety of markets including consumer and computer products, as well as networking and telecom applications," said Dr. Pradip Dutta, corporate vice president of Synopsys Inc. and managing director of Synopsys (India).

Dr. Chi-Foon Chan, president and COO, Synopsys Inc. said, " SNUG event is a technical conference focusing on real-world design challenges and featuring peer-reviewed User papers, along with presentations from top Synopsys technologists and industry experts. Although all SNUG conferences maintain a common technical focus, each program is designed with the specific needs of the local design community in mind.”

He added that this year's SNUG would give engineers a chance to discuss the challenges and successes they have experienced while employing cutting-edge design techniques for these processes. These discussions undoubtedly will include low power and high performance, as well as the increased use of intellectual property.

Chan added, “SNUG’s Bylaws provide that a local User Technical Committee drives each SNUG conference program, with Synopsys providing operational support. Technical Committee Membership is open to users of Synopsys tools and technology.”
