Symbol launches bar code scanner, mobile computer

NEW DELHI: Symbol Technologies, Inc., an enterprise mobility company, has announced the India launch of its LS9203 bar code scanner and mobile computer MC1000.

Symbol regional sales director for Asia Andrew Tay said, “Targeted at emerging markets and small and mid size retailers like convenience stores, hardware stores, card stores and boutique shops, the LSX9203 presentation scanner incorporates omni-directional scanning thereby eliminating the need to orient the bar code, for faster and more accurate read rates.” The LS9203 is priced at $293.

MC1000, termed by the company as an electronic digital assistant (EDA), expands Symbols' rugged mobile computer product portfolio and provides flexibility for data capture and numeric entry applications such as inventory management, stock checking, delivery confirmation and other scan-intensive application.

Priced at $695, MC1000 features Intel PXA271 312MHz processor and 32MB ROM and 32MB of RAM for computing, application and data storage. The target markets for MC1000 include manufacturing, warehouse, retail, consumer research and government offices.
