According to the release the foundation of each of the new protection suites will be Symantec Protection Center, a single sign-on Web console that provides administrators full access to configuration management, report generation and dashboard views of the multiple Symantec protection technologies relevant to each suite. Symantec Protection Center will simplify security information management with consolidated access to threat, security and operational dashboards and reporting.  With real-time access to the Symantec Global Intelligence Network, operations teams will benefit from single console access to Symantec’s global security threat database and market-leading endpoint, server, gateway and data loss prevention solutions.

“The new Symantec Protection Suites are a perfect fit for enterprise customers needing to effectively protect their infrastructures and information,” said Wade Wyant, president at ITS Partners. "Protection Center's consolidated access to security infrastructure management and reporting, along with the drag and drop workflow capabilities, will allow our clients to tightly integrate the solution into their environments."

In addition, two add-on options for hosted email and Web security from Symantec Hosted Services will bring the power of cloud computing to Symantec Protection Suite users, giving them  the flexibility and choice to deploy both on-site and hosted technologies depending on their business needs.

The new protection suites plan to include the following:

    * Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise Edition for Endpoints enables IT to effectively manage the business risk of IT by reducing the risk profile of advanced persistent threats (APT), such as Hydraq, targeted at the Enterprise.  This suite focuses on the specific requirements of desktop administrators, delivering asset inventory management, endpoint security, data confidentiality and data loss protection while managing software patch management and automating incident response.

    * Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise Edition for Gateway safeguards confidential data and employee productivity by creating a protected messaging, Web and network environment.  Network operations and perimeter security administrators will be able to reduce costs, eliminate complexity and increase the efficiency of the network and employees by combining industry-leading data loss prevention, messaging security and defense against browser-based attacks.

    * Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise Edition for Servers delivers comprehensive and high-performance protection where IT needs it.  This suite is a complete solution for server and application administrators.  Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise Edition for Servers will employ multiple protection technologies to secure a wide range of servers, including virtualized, Windows, Linux and Unix platforms.

“Symantec's new enterprise suites for Endpoints, Gateway and Servers will offer in-depth protection tailored to these specific areas of the IT infrastructure,” said Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director, Symantec India. “This approach to protection suites will enable customers to realize the full value of the protection capabilities offered in each suite, make it easier for them to solve the IT security challenges that most frequently impact their businesses, and simplify the selection and purchasing of solutions by aligning them with the way enterprises organize and manage their IT infrastructure and teams.”
