Sutherland to recruit 500 in Mumbai

CHENNAI: Keeping pace with its clients' increasing offshore requirements and continuing on its aggressive expansion in India, Sutherland India has announced its foray into Mumbai. This is Sutherland India's first expansion outside Chennai.

Sutherland is a global provider of customer management services in the hi-tech, finance and telecom verticals in the BPO space. The company has recently struck an alliance with Dallas-based management consultancy ISANI Group to focus on Global 1000 companies in the UK and the US to help these clients maximize their offshore returns.



The new facility will be established in Malad, Mumbai and will become operational this month. This latest expansion represents Sutherland's fourth offshore delivery center (ODC) in India.

The new ODC in Mumbai will cater to the offshore requirements of both Sutherland's existing global clients and new relationships that are in the pipeline. It will accommodate 500 employees and will have offer technical support and customer service. It will also offer direct connectivity with the US and also interconnectivity with Sutherland's three Chennai facilities.



The facility will serve as a disaster recovery center for Chennai. Currently, Sutherland supports two offshore customer management operations centers in Tidel Park and Santhome in Chennai and a third facility (1,500 people) became operational in Velachery, Chennai in December 2003.



Commenting on its expansion in India, Sutherland India senior VP and Country Manager, Bharat Chadda said, "our expansion into Bombay will serve the dual purpose of leveraging the highly skilled quality manpower available in India's business capital and provide a choice of service delivery location to our Fortune 1000 clients."
