CHENNAI: Buoyed by numerous offshore outsourcing wins that include prominent players in the computer hardware, software and applications sector, Rochester, New York based Sutherland Global Services has announced its latest expansion of its India operation in Mumbai.

Within nine months of opening its doors in Mumbai, the $150 million global BPO provider to the hi-tech, finance and telecom verticals of the customer management services space, is tripling its employee base in India's business capital. Sutherland plans to add 1,000 IT professionals, and significantly add to its existing space in Mumbai over the next 120 days.

Sutherland provides customer management services that span the entire customer life cycle. Sutherland's offerings include process consulting, technical support and help desk, customer care, account management and back-office processing services. Sutherland offers its customers a unique flexible, blended delivery model coupled and value-based pricing.

The expansion in Mumbai provides another location option for Sutherland's Fortune 1000 clients. The facility offers direct connectivity and redundancy with Sutherland's operations in the US, Canada and the three Chennai operation centers.

Commenting on the Mumbai expansion, Dilip Vellodi, Sutherland's Chairman and CEO said, "Since the beginning of our Mumbai venture in January, we have surpassed client performance expectations in terms of customer satisfaction. We believe that the highly qualified talent pool, our telecommunications infrastructure and the bandwidth in Mumbai provides definite value and cost advantages across the spectrum of services we offer. This latest expansion in Mumbai represents the successful transition of a number of our global clients to our Malad facility and we expect to expand further in Mumbai over the next 12 months. "

Earlier this year, Sutherland Global Services received $30 million USD in its first round of external funding - one of the largest BPO investments on record. Currently, Sutherland supports four offshore customer management operations centers in Chennai and Mumbai.
