Sunil Dutt quits HP, to head mobile biz?

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Sunil Dutt, vice president and general manager of HP India’s Personal System Group has quit the company.

HP India in its statement said; "Sunil Dutt, vice president and general manager of HP India’s Personal System Group, has decided to leave HP effective 30 May 2011 to pursue other opportunities. The management team will begin a search for his replacement immediately."

According to an industry source, Dutt is expected to head new mobile business venture together with HP PSG's Gujarat and Rajasthan-based partner from the consumers segment.

However, speaking to the CIOL, Dutt strongly denied that he would be starting any new mobile business with HP partner. "This is just an speculation, and I am evaluating a few options, and will take a decision in a couple of weeks in this regard," he said.

Luciana Broggi, vice president — Group Marketing for HP's Personal Systems, EMEA is expected to oversee channel operations on an interim basis.

Dutt left Samsung in October 2009 and joined the HP India's Personal System Group and had made changes to the company's distribution strategy and revamped consumer PC distribution and replaced IT volume partners with telecom partners.
