SANTA CLARA: Yahoo Inc., seeking to beef up its corporate business to offset
a slump in online advertising revenue, said Monday its content will be offered
to Sun Microsystems Inc. business customers.
When the service is launched in the third quarter, customers will be able to
access a business portal that blends business applications with personalized
information, both companies said in a statement.
Sun ONE portal server customers will receive a free 120-day trial once the
service is launched, and it will feature immediate access to more than 2,000
content sources -- including news and entertainment -- from 25 countries in 13
languages through Yahoo's "My Yahoo! Enterprise Edition" product.
Sun ONE is the network computer maker's software offering for building
corporate portal Web sites. These portals give employees one path to company
information, such as human resources, sales data and e-mail. Workers can
personalize the portal.
